I hate moving days of any sort.
Today was a major moving in day for the folks and equipment from the Chaska plant that is being closed. They've been bringing over equipment and supplies for a few days now, but today it was getting very cluttered all over.
I'm not sure if it was good or bad that my own job was fairly busy, keeping me from helping, but making everything that was going on be in my way.
I guess I'm just looking forward to things settling down.
Meanwhile, a little birdie has said that come the next year, we will likely be down to only 6 folks out in the warehouse, barring changes to bring in new business. Running down the seniority list, I'm #4, but that's awefully close for comfort.
A different birdie has made it clear that there is a significant pay inequity where I work as well. At least one individual that was hired before I was is getting paid less, and at least one person brought on after I was is being paid more. Now, we're not talking about a few cents, but in the range of 10%.... or more.... for a person who is doing the same job, and is not better qualified. Basically, the company keeps upping the rate for temps, and then if and when they're hired on, keeps them at the rate they made as a temp. Since they also have frozen wages for a while (no merit or otherwise), there's getting to be a very inequitable pay scale going on. Based on just some of the wages I know, it's about 20% in the worst case scenario. People being paid more because they've been there longer is expected. People being paid more because they haven't is absolutely unacceptable.
Looks like it's time to find a new job.... if only it were that easy right now.
